In September Dejan embarked on a tour with Royal Flemish Philharmonic under direction of Philippe Herreweghe, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major, K. 414 in Belgium, Austria, and France.


Other highlights this autumn include performances of the piano concertos by Liszt, Chopin, Brahms, and Shostakovich across Europe and in the US linking Dejan with some of today's finest orchestras and conductors.


Dejan's own compositions are scheduled to be performed as well, a.o. the "Overture" from his "Piano Concerto in Istrian Style", op. 18, which he'll perform with both, Royal Scottish National Orchestra & Thomas Sondergard across Scotland, and with Turku Philharmonic Orchestra & Kazuki Yamada in Turku, Finland.


He also performs his "3 Istrian Dances", op. 15a, for piano solo as a part of his London recital at the Wigmore Hall and in Vienna, and appears in a chamber music concert at the prestigious "Schubertiade" in Hohenems, Austria.

World Premiere of Dejan's Piano Concerto in Istrian Style – Debuts in Chicago & Warsaw

In July 2014 Dejan gave the world premiere of his own Piano Concerto in Istrian Style, op. 18 at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen (CO), USA, with the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robert Spano.


In the left column's article, published in International Piano Magazine's November/December 2014 issue, he shares his experience of writing and premiering his first large-scale work.


Also this summer, Dejan gave the Polish Premiere of his piano and orchestra arrangement of Brahms' beloved Violin Concerto at the Chopin Festival in Warsaw.


And with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Krzysztof Urbanski he performed Chopin's Piano Concerto no. 2 at the Ravinia Festival, USA.

In December 2014 Dejan gave a solo recital at the prestigious International Piano Series in London's Southbank Centre (Queen Elizabeth Hall).


His 'Double-Liaisons' programme featured works by C.P.E. Bach, Britten, Scarlatti and Bartok.

In October and in November 2013 Dejan will embark on a tour with three piano concertos: in the UK he'll perform Mozart's A major, K. 414 with Britten Sinfonia in Norwich (England) and Mendelssohn's No. 1 in G minor with Royal Scottish National Orchestra & Thomas Sondergard in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee (Scotland).


With Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor he'll mark his debut appearance at Canada's National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada's capital city, with the National Arts Centre Orchestra & Thomas Sondergard.

New CD, concerts, festivals and touring

After the release of his brand new CD 'Liaisons' - Vol. 3: C. Ph. E. Bach / Britten and a two-week tour in the United States, this spring Dejan went on tour with Basel Chamber Orchestra including their performance at the Vienna Konzerthaus, making his debut appearance with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and appearing in recital at several festivals including the famous 'Schubertiade' in Hohenems, Austria and the Janacek Festival in Ostrava, Czech Republic.


In spring 2013 Dejan gave his recital debuts at the world famous Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and at the Sydney Opera House. season 2012/13 on five continents!

In the upcoming 2012/13 season Dejan can be heard on five continents, performing both with orchestras and in recital: 


In Europe he'll perform on several occasions and in various programmes with Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg as their Artist-in-Residence (a.o. Lutoslawski Piano Concerto), among many other concerts on the Continent he'll also give debut performances with Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin & Iván Fischer (Brahms 1), NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg & Krzysztof Urbanski (Chopin 2), and Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra & Osmo Vänskä (Beethoven 3). He will appear in a solo recital at the Tonhalle Zürich, in a chamber music concert at the Schubertiade Festival in Austria, and on tour with Amsterdam Sinfonietta & Candida Thompson (Haydn & Shostakovich Piano Concertos) as well as with the Basel Chamber Orchestra & Giovanni Antonini (Beethoven Triple Concerto with Giuliano Carmignola, violin & Sol Gabetta, cello).


In North America, following highly successful recent performances at the Lincoln Center in New York with Budapest Festival Orchestra & Iván Fischer and with both Atlanta and Seattle Symphony Orchestras & Robert Spano, Dejan will give the Midwestern Premiere of his own arrangement of Brahms Violin Concerto for Piano and Orchestra with Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra & Krzysztof Urbanski and will appear in three concerts in California's Orange County with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra & Carl St. Clair (Bach Piano Concerto in D major).

In South America he will give two solo recitals in Argentina's renowned Teatro Colón and will also perform with Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (OSESP) in Brazil in summer 2013 to give the South American Premiere of his Brahms Violin Concerto arrangement.


In October 2012 he will return to Asia where he'll perform Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 with National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan and in early 2013 he'll be back in Australia for a solo recital at the world-famous Sydney Opera House and for additional performances of Rach 2 with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

premieres for brahms / arr. lazic

Later this year, there are two European Premieres planned for BRAHMS / ARR. LAZIC - PIANO CONCERTO NO. 3 (AFTER VIOLIN CONCERTO, OP. 77)at the BBC Proms in London on 11 August (UK Premiere), and at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on 24, 25 & 26 September (Dutch Premiere).


The German Premiere of this work will take place in Hamburg in April 2012 at the prestigious festival Hamburger Ostertöne,

the Japanese Premiere in Sapporo is scheduled for March 2012, and additional performances in The Hague and in Utrecht will take place in February 2012.

In November and December 2009 Dejan was performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, op. 58 

on a highly successful 12-concert national tour of Australia

with the Australian Chamber Orchestra led by Richard Tognetti.

In addition, they performed the same concerto in summer 2010

in London and at the Snape Proms in Aldeburgh, UK.


Their Sydney concert was recorded live by Channel Classics

and on this brand new disc Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto

will be linked with his two Piano Sonatas:


No. 14 in C-sharp minor 'Moonlight' (op. 27, No. 2) and 

No. 31 in A-flat major (op. 110).

Dejan received the 'ECHO Klassik' Award 2009

Dejan Lazic received the prestigious German 'ECHO Klassik' Award 2009 in the category 'Best Piano Concerto Recording (20th and 21st Century)' for his live recording of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 with London Philharmonic Orchestra under Kirill Petrenko.

Some nice news for the composer Dejan Lazic: 


in 2009 he has completed his six-year-long project, an arrangement of the beloved Brahms Violin Concerto for Piano and Orchestra - after Bach and Beethoven, who arranged their own Violin Concertos as Piano Concertos, here we have now the third great 'B' in such an arrangement: Lazic / Atlanta Symphony Orchestra / Spano.


The World Premiere took place on October 1, 2009 in Atlanta, USA. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and their music director Robert Spano joined Dejan and repeated the concert on October 2 & 3.

The CD has been released in January 2010 and is already among Channel Classics' bestsellers: Channel Classics: Brahms / Lazic.

Rachmaninov - Orchestral Disc of the Month!

The Rachmaninov-CD got also a lot of attention in Great Britain: in the February 2009 issue of "Classic FM" magazine, Dejan and his Rachmaninov Concerto No. 2 with LPO was Orchestral Disc of the Month!

Dejan's Rachmaninov-CD with London Philharmonic Orchestra under Kirill Petrenko has been released on Channel Classics in 2009 and has received among others the prestigious German 'ECHO Klassik' Award! Rachmaninov's famous 2nd Piano Concerto, recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in London, is being paired with his "Moments Musicaux" op. 16. The disc has already got rave reviews worldwide and on January 27, 2009 Dejan presented the disc on ZDF, Germany's national TV station, performing live in the studio.
